Shokti on why he's very excited about the tenth anniversary of Queer Spirit Festival:

“Our beautiful lovely sexuality is the gateway to spirit.  Under all organised religions of the past, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, there has been a separation of carnality, or shall we say of flesh or earth or sex, and spirituality.  As far as I am concerned they are all the same thing, and what we need to do as faeries is to tie it all back together again.”   Harry Hay, 1912-2002, pioneering gay rights and Radical Faerie activist.

Throughout history and across the globe queerness has been associated with magic, divination, ritual, spirit. The modern LGBTQ+ liberation movement hasn't addressed this, but at Queer Spirit Festival hundreds of queers gather to reclaim and explore this part of our story and nature...

Queer Spirit at Safertobeme Conference

Queer Spirit at Safertobeme Conference

The Safertobeme Conference, 23-24 October 2025, at the International Stadium in Gateshead brought together queer activists from around the world to discuss how we, as a global community, deepen solidarity and expand allyship to meet the challenge of the rising attacks on LGBTQ+ rights.

With a theme of Local to Global, the conference website says: “In an uncertain world, LGBTQ+ rights have been weaponised and diminished by populist leaders, authoritarian governments, religious fundamentalists, and 'moral' entrepreneurs. So, it is more important than ever as individuals, organisations, politicians, governments, and businesses, to pull together in solidarity and to make a visible stand as allies.”

Testimonials about Queer Spirit

Over 700 colourful, loving, playful, questing queers of all ages, from all parts of the LGBTQI+ rainbow tribe and all colours of the human family assemble in the beautiful countryside or five days of summer fun and cosmic connection at the Queer Spirit Festival.  We celebrate Who We Are as creative, loving beings exploring our spirituality, our hearts, minds and bodies with a rich and diverse programme of ceremonies, performance, workshops and play spaces - here we dissolved the perceived boundaries and divisions between trans people, lesbians, bisexuals, gay men and other queers who cannot be defined or confined to any such category.  In a magically held atmosphere that encouraged engagement, open heartedness, communication and compassion, the Festival was a liberating realm of freedom of self-expression, of self-exploration and community creation… of soul expansion and of finding the inner peace that comes from communing with nature, and being able to fully be ourselves.

Here's what some of the people who came to this or previous festivals have to say about it...
